B.L.E.S.S. | Listen

How to use it: After watching/listening to this week’s message, from September 17, 2023, use the questions to go deeper into the message, with your group…or on your own. The questions will introduce you to the topic, reflect content from the sermon, go ‘Beyond the Message’, & get you thinking about practical applications for your life.

  1. A “mondegreen” is a misunderstood word or phrase from mishearing the lyrics of a song. What is your most memorable misheard word or phrase?

  2. Why do you think we have such a difficult time truly listening to people around us?

  3. Have you ever felt unheard? Describe the situation and what it was like for you.

  4. Read Luke 18:35-42. What impressed you most about Jesus’ interaction with the man who was blind? How would you have felt if you were that man?

  5. When was the last time you truly felt listened to, known, and loved? What was so special about that experience?

  6. Read Acts 17:16-23. How did Paul learn about the people of Athens? How do you think they felt when Paul spoke to them?

  7. Review the “Four H’s for Listening: history, heart, habits, hurts.” Use one to share something from your story with the group.

  8. Choose one area – where you live, work, or play – and commit to “begin by praying” for the people there and to intentionally listen to them this week.
