The Discipleship Pathway

Take your next step

The Discipleship Pathway

  • A disciple is someone who is following Jesus and gaining in their knowledge of Him. A disciple is someone who is changed by Christ and growing in their compassion and care for all. A disciple is someone who is committed to the mission of Jesus Christ by serving in the world to reveal God to everyone they encounter.

Our discipleship pathway offers clear next steps as you journey to grow in faith, establish Biblical foundations, and live out the mission, vision and values here at West Meadows. Through intentional groups ministries, mentoring relationships, and mission opportunities we’ll equip and empower you to deepen your relationship with God, mature spiritually, and engage in serving others.

How it works

The Discipleship Pathway is made up of 4 segments: Curious, Captivated, Committed, & Cultivating. Each stage is designed to guide you through specific milestones, experiences, and growth in understanding towards spiritual maturity and offer opportunities to apply that into your day-to-day life.

This is accomplished by calling each person into relationship with others, equipping them with a deeper understanding of who God is, providing opportunities for service within and outside the church, and guiding them towards opportunities to lead others in an impactful way.

Curious

This segment of the discipleship pathway is part of the journey for everyone. Your questions about who Jesus is and whether you even believe in Jesus are being asked at this segment. In this segment of your life, you are looking for a place to belong and find purpose beyond the everyday. You also might be searching for connection. All of these and more are part of the curious stage, and there is a safe place for you to continue being curious. That place is the Alpha course.

Captivated

This segment of the discipleship pathway is where passion and excitement from a newfound identity with Jesus show up and almost shock some people with the amount of focus on Jesus that is now in their lives. You would call yourself a Christian if anyone asked you, and you are excited to share this newfound faith and passion for Christ with others. However, the old phrase holds true: “You don’t know what you don’t know until you don’t know it.” You are full of passion, but at the same time are feeling like there is a lot about this new identity you still don’t fully understand. You have been trying to act more like Jesus, but you need to know more about how to do that.

Committed

This segment of the discipleship pathway is where most Christians will spend a lot of time in their lives. Your identity in Jesus is solidified at this stage, and you feel confident in your standing with God. You are heavily involved in the local church and community. Ownership over your spiritual growth is a huge milestone that marks the committed disciple along the pathway. This segment is structured to continually create opportunities to engage, grow, and deepen the connection each disciple has with Christ and other followers. You are seeking to continually think, look, and act like Jesus.

Cultivating

This segment of the discipleship pathway is where multiplication happens. It can happen at all segments of the pathway, but this is the one when you are intentionally seeking to multiply. You are still a committed Christian, but now you are intentionally looking around and seeing the potential in others and desiring to impact them toward Christlikeness. You are discipling and mentoring others. You are restructuring some of your priorities to make sure that journeying along the pathway with someone is happening. Your sense of ownership of your faith is as strong as its ever been, and the desire to share that faith with others is even stronger.

Where are you along the Path?
